Navigate by marker

In several instances we can see players moving in the direction of or reaching a Point Of Interest. But how did they know it was there? In other words: how does navigation work in Light No Fire? And how does (fast) travel work over large distances?

Markers lead the way

Multiple times we can see markers leading the way for a player towards something of interest.

Flags

Shown below are two markers (circled in yellow) in the the shape of flags.

They lead the way towards the floating cube (which is the destination, circled in blue.) It is assumed the player has followed many of these markers to reach this point, like following a crumbpath. Note that the last marker is not right on top of the destination.

Plaques

Other times we can only see a marker but not the destination, meaning we haven’t reached the last point of the crumbpath. Below a plaque is shown as a marker:

The player has just reached this marker and is probably searching for the next one to go to.

The same type of marker can also be seen here:

You can see the skeleton is deliberatly walking towards is.

Here it is likely seen again (in the distance):

It is possible the giant crab was actually the destination in this case or the giant crab is gaurding the destination.

Red stems on straight sticks

Here is what appears to be another set of markers (in yellow) with a probable destination (in blue):

There are no trees seen anywhere in this scene, only two markers that look a bit like red stems on very straight sticks. It is looking like the player is moving along the markers towards the destination, following the crumbpath. While it is really hard to see, the destination might be something fairly large, possibly even dragon armor to be equipped.

Fire towers

One last type of marker that can be seen is a fire tower:

It looks like the fire tower (circled in yellow) is a marker leading towards the floating island (circled in blue.) These fire towers are (very) high up and probably take a dragon to navigate through as a crumbpath.

Earth

When looking closely at the floating island something very interesting can be noticed: on top of the lighthouse is a bright green light surrounded by a sphere. But this sphere isnt just any sphere: it is tilted like Earth!

This strongly suggests this lighthouse does something on a global scale. It has a green light indicating green magic. Note that the floating island is very high above the ground, so you need a end-game dragon to reach it, which can land on the platform to the right of the lighthouse.

When you add this all up what makes most sense is that some form of end-game teleportation is taking place here. To places somewhere else on the globe.

Another possibility is that this is a place where you can retrieve/trade maps for (global) navigation.

Moon

When looking at this top part of the light house you can also see a smaller (solid) sphere:

This could certainly be a representation of the Moon. In the HUD you can also see a depiction of the Moon:

Also in at least one (darker) scene you can see reflections of what appears to be directional light which seems to come from fairly high above, based on the shadows. If it were light from the Sun the scene would be brighter. So this looks like moonlight:

Its quite possible the Moon plays an important role in Light No Fire.
